Accessible (Disabled) Bathrooms

The demand for accessible bathrooms is on the increase. The growing part of the population with age related challenges looks for ways to live independently in their homes. There are currently almost 145,000 Australians using wheelchairs in daily life, and that numbers continues to increase.

The ultimate goal in designing an accessible bathroom is to make the space safe for any wheelchair user of for any other person in need of accommodation in a partly of fully disabled bathroom.

At Harbour Build, we understand that even though the bathroom might be the smallest room, it can certainly challenge the ability for independence and dignity. Accessibility can be a challenge. Therefore, careful planning is vital.

We offer stylish and modern wheelchair accessible bathrooms with many customized features to make sure that the bathroom is safe, functional and takes into consideration future needs. Toilet lifters, grab rails, practical wash basins are a some of the popular products we install.

We can install the iCare Shower system with all its accessibility features. The push-button controls create an easiness for people with reduced dexterity. iPhone-users can use the free iShower app. No remote control needed.

Overall, we include and focus on the following areas in the planning of an accessible bathroom:

  1. Sink and Vanity accessibility
  2. Lighting
  3. Toilet accessibility
  4. Shower /  Tub accessibility – Preventing wet floor when exiting the shower or tub.
  5. Walk -In bath combined with shower
  6. General safety and access
